Minsk hub project qualified for the Social Weekend semifinal

sw8Global Shapers Minsk hub plans to organize first teachers unconference in Belarus, EdCamp (Education Camp) Belarus, in partnership with the Fellowship of Belarusian Schools

Key idea of the event is to unite Belarusian teachers aimed at improving the country’s educational system.

Global Shapers Minsk Hub’s team members Yauheni Pugach, Anastasiya Baglay and Maksim Kublitski presented the EdCamp idea at the social projects contest Social Weekend, among 140 other projects. The EdCamp project was chosen by experts to compete in the semifinal. Final competition will be held in December. So far, the teams learn from experienced mentors how to improve their projects.

The term unconference is used to indicate that the event does not have a rigid structure. Instead, the participants themselves determine what they are going to discuss, and they do not pay the registration fee. EdCamp is supposed to become the platform for teachers to share their experience.

The first EdCamp took place in the US in 2010. Since that time, about 1.000 events with tens of thousands teachers were held in 26 countries. Two big EdCamps were held in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
